Idle Journey
Idle Journey is a mobile Idle game, where you play as a castaway in an isolated beach in an unknown island. Outside the safety of the cove you woke up in, there are wildlife that will make quick work of your untrained and unequipped character. So, in order to venture further inland, you must manage to get gold to purchase equipment, hire companions, and pay for your inevitable medical bills.
Features
Getting gold
You gather specific resources that can be sold for gold. You can gather them manually, or you can leave your character collecting them automatically. After getting gold you can choose to reinvest to upgrade your resource gathering, hire additional characters or buy armor and weapons for your characters. Characters collect resources while you are out of the game.
Exploring and Fighting
When you venture outside safe areas, your characters automatically fight and collect any loot they find. As your characters fight, they gain experience in different areas, becoming better fighters, for instance, if they attack with daggers, they get better at using daggers, if they get hit while wearing heavy armor, they get better at wearing it, etc... Characters assigned to explore continue fighting when you are out of the game.
Gameworld and Visuals
The game world is 3D (the terrain and props), while characters are 2D. The camera has a fixed point of view, it does not turn, it only moves left and right following your currently selected character. You control characters by clicking where you want to move. There are currently two biomes, the beach you start at, and a forest further right. There is a day and night cycle tied to your device's clock.
Project state
Currently the game is only for Windows, Android, and Browser. This game is mostly a prototype for this idle game gameplay loop that I thought of, where you farm money to buy gear and train your characters so they can survive the trip to the next level. Since it is just a prototype, there are currently only two levels, the beach where you start at, and a forest, so it is quite short. And likely there will be bugs.
